Why Acapulco? After +/- 1 weak of Mexico City I wanted to relax a little at the seaside instead of going immediatly to Puebla and Oaxaca. I studied the different possibilities of travelling and found out, that a little change of my initial intention made a great difference, when taking the bus. Crossing the mountains to reach the Pacific means, spending a lot of additional hours on the bus. After having passed a lot of time on my flight from Zurich via Atlanta (5 hours of stay) to Mexico City, I was fed up with boaring hours of traveling. Finally I decided, to skip the very interesting places of Puebla and Oaxaca, and took instead flights to Acapulco, then via Mexico City to Cancun, Yucatan.

Acapulco, once the place, to where the Celebrities from Hollywood went ( e.g. Frank Sinatra ), is a huge natural bay with an even huger beach. But unfortunately, at least half of it is covered with big hotelmonsters (type of Spanish Mediterranian Coast) . I was lucky, because I was out of season in Acapulco, so most of the hotels were empty.

I found an excellent hotel (Mirador) at the Quebrada, a 5 minutes walk from  the historic center (Zocalo). In the dining room, I could observe the famous Clavadistas (cliff divers). It was during the breakfast, that I saw some Colibris, 'jumping' from flower to flower.

The two important public traffic means in Acapulco, huge and noisy buses and  -noisy too- the blue and white Volkswagen beetle taxis.

Bus drivers are disc jockeys too, and they want you to listen to their favourite music at an extremely high noise level.

Quite calm was the Botanic Garden. It was not the season for seeing a lot of flowers, but it was a relaxing time, which was followed by a long walk on the beach of Acapulco, back to the Zocalo.
